I really like the “Mad Men” TV show. The show is well written and witty and has a lot of characters with intricate back stories which are often just hinted at.
One such character is Dawn Chambers, the secretary of ad exec Don Draper. The part is ably played by Teyonah Parris (in photo above with Peggy Olson, played by Elisabeth Moss). The other characters take great delight in mixing up Don and Dawn’s names. I believe that these names would be pronounced the same as each other in California, where the show is written, but not in 1960s New York.
I believe Don should be pronounced like John, Ron, or Con. And Dawn should be pronounced like Shawn, Vaughn or brawn. If you agree or disagree, please make a comment.
