The hard working staff of Johnny-Sells recently visited the Big Apple, New York. While there we got to visit with Janet’s cousin Lilly and her husband Lou Berger. Lou was the head writer for Sesame Street for many years. He also helped developed Reading Rainbow and other television shows.
Lou has two Emmy Awards on his mantel. But his prize possession is a genuine Muppet made in his likeness. The Sesame Street crew presented it to him when he left the show. The likeness is astounding, especially in the area of the eyebrows. And he really knows how to work it.
I asked Lou if he got to make an acceptance speech at the Emmy Awards.
“Yes, I did!”
“Did you thank all the little people you met on the way to the top?”
“No, I thanked the little people who watched the show!”
Lou Berger, a great guy and a great Muppet.
