Cheddar Chive Bread
You too, can make this delicious, easy to bake, home made No Knead Cheddar Chive Bread. Just follow the directions by Janet Treuhaft of Johnny-Sells.
Here is the recipe for this delicious bread:
2 Cups lukewarm water
1 1/2 Tablespoons active dry yeast
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 Cups plus 2 Tablespoons cheddar cheese
1/2 Cup chopped fresh chives
2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
2 teaspoons salt
4 1/2 Cups all-purpose flour
1. Pour water into large mixing bowl. Sprinkle yeast and sugar over water. Stir to dissolve. Set aside until foamy, about 10 minutes. Add 1 1/2 Cups of the cheese, chives, butter, and salt. Mix until combined. Beat in flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until dough is soft and sticky. Cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, 1 hour.
2. Punch down dough, mix one minute. Place dough on floured work surface; cut in half. Place each half in a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan. Sprinkle tops with remaining cheese. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise again in a warm place until doubled in size, 45 minutes.
3. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake until loaves are golden brown on top and sound hollow when tapped on bottom, about 30 minutes.
